Biography contributed by Michael Silver

The Warwick Daily News reported on Wednesday, 12 November 1941 that the death had occurred at Manly, New South Wales, on Sunday, November 9, after an lllness extending over four or five months, of Mr Beresford Sydney Morgan, thlrd son of the late Sir Arthur (16th Premier of Queensland) and Lady Alice Augusta Morgan [nee Clinton].

A native of Warwick, the late Beresford Morgan was born at "Acacia House" in Victoria Street, Warwick, the home of the Morgan family for many years. He received his early education in Warwick, and subsequently entered the Brisbane Grammar School. On leaving school he joined the Bank of New'South Wales at Warwick, and later served in several branches in Queensland, including the Brisbane Head office, from where he enlisted in the Great War.

He served in Egypt with the Army Medical Corps, being attached to the 2nd Australian General Hospital, Field Ambulance and the A.I.F. Headquarters staff before returning to Australia in 1918 in the transport 'Port Darwin' as part of the nursing staff.

On his return from the front he resumed his position in the Bank of New South Wales, but subsequently decided to follow a career outside the bank in commercial sales.

He eventually settled at Manly in New South Wales, where he lived for many years prior to his death. He was survived by four brothers and three sisters. His eldest brother, Lieutenant Arthur Clinton Morgan served with the 11th Light Horse during the Great War and was subsequently elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Member for Darling Downs.
