Son of George and Margaret Whitford of Wagga Wagga, NSW. Brother of Margaret Whitford, Dorothy J. Whitford, Daisy Whitford, George E. Whitford and Essie M.C. Whitford

Signaller Alick Whitford (killed) was in his 24th year and unmarried. He was a native of Wagga and the elder of two sons of Mr. and Mrs. G. Whitford, Fitzmaurlce Street; Wagga. Educated at  Wollongong District School, he afterwards entered the service of the Railway Department, and prior to enlisting was a relieving night officer In the north-western district. He was a keen athlete, and was well known in football and swimming circles. His younger brother is at present in camp at Liverpool.
