War and Tales of War at the Parramatta Pictures
In 1916 John, along with his brother Patrick sued Mr and Mrs Marsden, also of Parramatta, for using insulting words (slander). Mrs Marsden had insulted him at the picture theater by calling him a "cold footer' implying he had not enlisted.
The case was found to be proven, and Mrs Marsden was fined. (more can be found at http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/86207386) In the evidence it one of the witnesses stated that "Jack was suffering from shell shock and likely to get excited at times".
Not a lot is known of his life after this, he is listed on the 1930 electoral roll in Parramatta in 1930.
