Thomas Walker TORTOISHELL was born in Rocester, Staffordshire, England in 1882

His parents were Thomas TORTOISHELL & Lydia LINES who married in England in 1881

He married Louisa Ellen ALBUTT in Kings Norton, Worcester, UK in 1901

He enlisted in NSW on 1st February, 1916 and embarked with the 3rd Pioneer Battalion, 3rd reinfrocements from Melbourne on the HMAT Karroo on 18th September, 1916

Thomas died on 8th June, 1917 in St Albans , Hertfordshire of Melancholia & Hydrocephalus and is buried in the St Albans (Hatfield Road) Cemetery
