Son of Austin Richard Onyons and Sarah Helen Stuart Onyons nee Hogg of Carnarvon Road, Malvern, Victoria.

Commenced return to Australia on 4 February 1918 aboard HT Balmoral Castle disembarking on 23 March 1918 at Adelaide then by rail to Melbourne.
