8 Nov 1917: Honoured Military Medal, For conspicuous gallantry in leading his section after being wounded against the trenches near Bullecourt on 3rd May 1917. During a bomb attack he picked up and threw a Mills bomb with lever released that first been dropped by a wounded man thereby undoubtedly saving several casualties
2 Jan 1918: Discharged AIF WW1, Corporal, 520, 22nd Infantry Battalion, Discharged at the 3rd Military District as wounded, with temporary rank of SGT
