PRIVATE W. J. McKAY
(Bungendore).
Died of Illness at the Dardanelles.
The deceased soldier was tho eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. McKay, of "Gidleigh," Bungendore, and was 28 years of age. A younger brother, Joseph, was killed in action on August. 5. At the time of enlisting Private W. McKay held the rank of sergeant-major, but as there was no shortage of sergeant-majors he readily gave up his stripes and joined the 3rd Reinforcements as a private. He married Miss Little, of Bungendore, a week before he sailed for the front.
