Although born in Montrose in the county of Angus, he is remembered on the Motherwell War Memorial by reason of his parents' later residency in Ladywell, Motherwell. See 'Overseas Forces'. The Motherwell War Memorial  was unveiled on 30 October 1921, attended by Lord Claude Hamilton and stands in the Duchess of Hamilton Park in Motherwell,
Strathclyde, ML1, Scotland.
