Grafton Edward Newton RHODES was born in South Grafton, New South Wales in 1895

His parents were William John RHODES & Sarah Ann ANDREWS

He enlisted in Lismore, NSW on 5th November, 1915 and embarked from Sydney on the HMAT Borda on 5th June 1916 with the 42nd Infantry Battalion

Grafton died of wounds in France on 27th February, 1917 and is buried in the Trois Arbres Cemetery - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
