Husband of Florence May O'Malley nee Allen of Raneleigh Street, off Waymouth Street, Adelaide, SA. Michael and Florence were married on 13 December 1915 in St. Patrick's Church, Adelaide, SA.

Commenced return to Australia on 18 January 1919 aboard HT Ulysses disembarking on 7 March 1919
