He was 24 and the son of Owen and Sarah Humphreys, of 2, Cambridge Rd., Bootle, Liverpool, England. He is one of six Australian casualties of the Great War honoured on the Bootle War Memorial in Lancashire, England.

Thomas is remembered on the Merseyside Roll of Honour and on the war memorial of Bedford Road Council School, Bootle.
The memorial is fixed to the wall of the gymnasium.

BEDFORD ROAD COUNCIL SCHOOL 'OLD BOYS' WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1919
IN THE AUSTRALIANS. Thos. Owen Humphreys, aged 24, son of Mrs. Owen Humphreys, of 2, Cambridge-road, Bootle, was killed at the Dardanelles on September 25, being struck by a bomb thrown by the Turks. He was highly spoken of by the chaplain of his battalion in a letter of sympathy to the parents. He belonged to the 17th Battalion (Fifth Brigade) Australian Forces. Before going to Australia about two years ago, he was a clerk in a co-operative stores in the Walton district. Two brothers are now serving in France.
