Harry was killed by a shell during a raid on the German trenches. He was mortally wounded and unable to be brought back to his own lines.

His brother Percy Eric Graham enlisted in NSW and was killed at the landing on Gallipoli 26 April 1915. Harry also had a stepson killed in action (his wife had been previously married), 3227 Pte W.H. Rust 59th Battalion KIA at Ypres Belgium 1917.
