Biography

Athol Goodwin KIRKLAND was born on 19th January, 1895 in Rylstone, Mudgee NSW

His parents were Andrew KIRKLAND and Mary Clara PICKETT

He enlisted on 28th July, 1916 with the 34th Battalion S/N 2604

Unit embarked from Sydney on 17th Nov. 1916 on ship SS NAPIER

Athol died between 3rd April & 5th April, 1918 - no known grave

He is commemorated in the Australian National Memorial in Villers Bretonneux in France and also in the CrucifiX Corner Cemetery, Villers Bretonneux (Commonwealth War Graves)
