"SEE, Charles. Private, No. 985, 41st Batt. Born and educated at Sandhills. Son of James See and Eizabeth (nee Trevor) See, of Sandhills, via Bundaberg. Enlisted at Bundaberg January, 1916, and went into Enoggera Camp. Attached to the 4 1 st Batt. Sailed for England in May, per S.S. "Demosthenes," and arrived in July, 1916, going to Salisbury Plain. Left for France December, 1916, and went into action on the Flanders Front. Through the battle of Messines, where he was wounded and gassed in July, 1917, and was sent to hospital in Hastings (Eng.) He then returned to France, and was again wounded in August, 1918, and sent to hospital in France. Returned to duty, and was in France when the Armistice was signed." - from Queenslanders Who Fought in the Great War (nla.gov.au)
