Donald McDonald Squire was born in 1880 on the 21st of January in Modbury, South Australia. He was born to Philip Henry Squire and Mary Squire (Mcuspie). Donald had six sisters and was the only boy. Before the war Donald was working as a Station Overseer.

At the age of 35, Donald enlisted into World War One on the 3rd of January 1916. He embarked on the 16th of March in 1916. The boat he embarked on was the HMAT Anchises A68. His rank was Lance Corporal and his unit was the Light Horse Details. His service number was 2157.

He was wounded in the leg on 5 April 1918. By this time he had been promoted to Sergeant and was serving with the Camel Corps.

Donald returned home from the war on the 29th of April 1919. On the 4th of October 1920 Donald married Bertha Eleanor Dunn in Woodforde, South Australia, Australia. It is unclear if they had any children. Donald Squire died on the 26th of October 1949 at the age of 69 at the Repatriation Hospital, Springbank.
