Address at the time of enlistment was 246 Darling Street, Balmain, NSW. Marital status was given as widower. On the Attestation paper which he signed on 10 March 1917 he age was given as 31 years and 9 months. Previously he had given his date of birth as May 1880 this would make him older than 31 years
Previously served with Canadian Strathgonian Regulars reputedly in South Africa. In an October 1922 document from the R.A.N. Staff Office which stated the he served in South Africa with the Canadian Army for 2 years and 4 months then as a Naval Guarod from 15 May 1918 to 26 July 1918 presumably after being discharged from the A.I.F 5th Light Horse Regiment as medically unfit
Next of kin given as his brother Clarence Adams of 250 Queen Street, Quebec, Canada also of Balmain, NSW
Commenced return to Australia on 12 November 1917 aboard HT Wiltshire disembarking in Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane for discharge
