George was living at Perth, Western Australia when he enlisted in the Australian Infantry. He embarked on 29th June 1915 from the port of Freemantle, on board  HMAT Ascanius.

He is remembered on the Worksop College War Memorial. Admiited 1901 when it was known as St Cuthbert's College.

He is also remembered on the war memorial in the town of his birth, Malton, North yorkshire.

His brother, Serjeant William Ernest Dale, Service No. 96167, "D" Battery. 51st Brigade., Royal Field Artillery 

fell in Belgium on 17 December 1915 -age 24 and, having no known grave, is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

He is also honoured on the Malton War Memorial.

William and Caroline at one time were resident of 3&5 Market Street, Malton .
