On 22 September 1917 George completed an Engineer Officers Training School as Roseville, NSW

Son of Catherine McCubbin formerly O'Connor of Willington Quay, Northumberland, England.

Allowed leave between 18 June 1919 to 18 September 1919 for employment with the North Western Railway, Paddington, London, England.

Returned to Australia on 25 November 1919 aboard HT Benalla disembarking in Melbourne
