OBITUARY
Mr. Arthur J. Hanley The death occurred at the Canberra Hospital early yesterday morning of Mr. Arthur James Hanley, 64. He suffered a long and trying illness and was taken to the Hospital a few hours before his death. The late Mr. Hanley arrived in Canberra in 1932 and in the intervening period became well known and established many friends. He was a "digger" of the 1914-18 war and, before his enlistment, was a school teacher in Western Australia where he established a high reputation as a demonstration teacher and an English master. He was a keen student of Economics and closely followed all financial trends.
The deceased was a foundation member of the City Bowling Club and was always actively interested in Returned soldiers affairs. He was on several occasions a member of the R.S.L. executive and treasurer for some years. He was also a member of the War Memorial Board.
