Percy John Abercrombie was born on the 1st January, 1884 in Victoria.

Before the war, Abercrombie played Australian Rules Fooball for Essendon (1903) for two games, for South Melbourne (1905) for 12 games and South Fremantle in the WAFL for 29 games. His preferred position is unknown and the AFL has not listed any goals against his statistics.

Outside of his sporting career, Abercrombie held a job as a clerk. Abercrombie was married to Ms Elizabeth Adelaide Abercrombie and together they lived at 112 Maling Road, Canterbury, Victoria.

Abercrombie enlisted with the AIF on the 15th January 1916 and was assigned to the 22nd Infantry Battalion. He embarked from Melborne on the 28th July, 1916 on the HMAT Themistocles A32.

Abercrombie returned from the war and continued life in Victoria.

Abercrombie died on the 22nd May, 1964 at the age of 80.
