Great Sydney Central Station Honour Board

Edward Sandilands FLEMING (Service Number 3834) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1894. He joined the NSWGR&T as a store boy at Ultimo in 1913, giving his ‘trade or calling’ as ‘storekeeper’ when he enlisted in the AIF at Warwick Farm in September 1915.

He was killed in action in Belgium on 9 October 1917.
He was buried ‘in the vicinity of Broodseinde’, but the grave could not be located later, and he is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

Edward Sandilands FLEMING (Service Number 3834) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1894.  He joined the NSW Government Railways and Tramways as a store boy at Ultimo in 1913. He gave his occupation as ‘storekeeper’ when he enlisted in the AIF at Warwick Farm in September 1915.

He embarked from Sydney in January 1916. He was sent via Egypt to France where he landed in April 1916.  He joined the 17th Battalion in August.

He was killed in action on 9th October 1917. 

He was buried ‘in the vicinity of Broodseinde’, but the grave could not be located later. He is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
