Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Private James Henry Robson (Service No:3620) enlisted in the AIF on 25 January 1916. He served in France and Belgium before embarking from England for the RTA on A74 Marathon and was Discharged on 28 June 1918 'for family reasons' - his father had suicided and James was needed at home to support his mother and eight young siblings.

Born in 1896 in Kilcoy QLD, James was the second (and eldest surviving) of eleven children of Walter James Robson (b1870 in Laidley, QLD) and Wilhelmina (Minnie) Augusta Kuhz (b1872 at Ebenezer nr Ipswich, QLD). Walter (a Labourer) and Minnie married in 1894 in Laidley QLD and lived at Mt Hallen nr Esk where Walter was a Timber Getter. By 1905 Walter and Minnie had settled with their family at Laidley where Walter was a Labourer until his suicide in 1918.

James worked as a Carpenter in Laidley QLD before his enlistment in the AIF, and following his Discharge in 1918 to support his mother and siblings, he lived at Dallarnil and Amamoor nr Gympie where he worked as a Labourer. In 1924 in Gympie QLD, James married Mary Ann Naylor (b1902 in Gympie, QLD). James and Mary lived in Gympie until the 1930s, when they settled in Ayr, QLD where they raised their family and James was a Carpenter. James died in 1977 and Mary in 1979.
