Son of JOhn Ormes and Eliza Ormes of Richmond Street, South Head on Sea, England.
On 14 December 1918 Horace married Dorothy Emily Dewell in the Stoke Hewington Church. Priest R.B. Ford officiated.
Commenced return to Australia on 8 August 1919 aboar HT Katoomba disembarking on 29 September 1919
