Son of Abel Burton of 'Dennison', Heyfield, Victoria; brother of H.J. Burton, Elizabeth Burton, Lorne Menzies Burton who was killed in action on 1 April 1917 while serving with the 49th Battalion and John F Burton MM who returned to Australia
