His coolness, dash and daring particularly in the assault, were a feature of the operation. After sharing in the hand to hand fight with the enemy he withdrew, but noticing one of his comrades fall wounded within the enemy lines he went to his assistance, dressed his wounds and assisted him back to our lines in daylight, despite being burdened by his comrades weight and the enemy barrage sweeping No Man's Land. | |
