From the book Fallen Saints - Robert Bruce Scott of Neutral Bay New South Wales was born in Adelaide. He enlisted on 3 July 1917 and had until then been employed as an accountant in Sydney.
At the end of October, he sailed from Sydney aboard HMAT Euripides with the 21st quota of reinforcements for the 17th Battalion and was taken on the strength of the 5th Training Battalion at Fovant, Wiltshire, England on Boxing Day. He embarked for France on 1 April and upon arrival was transferred to No 1 Overflow Camp for a week before then joining the 17th Battalion at Beaumarais, France. In late August, he was found to be suffering from a heart condition and after being declared medically unfit was invalided back to Australia via England, discharged from the Army in late January 1919, and died on 23 June 1919; he was 48 years of age.
