Alice was the daughter of James William Rowand and Margaret Rowand nee Walker.
Alice enlisted as a Staff Nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service on 23.5.1917 and embarked from Melbourne on 12.6.1917 per "Mooltan". She saw Service in Salonika and returned to Australia on 2.6.1919 per “Beltana” On Duty and was discharged on 27.12.1919. Medals: British War Medal and Victory Medal.
