My Great-grandfather
I wish my grandfather could have met me, he would have been proud to hear I bear his first name as my middle name, which is "Herbert."
I'm very proud to have him as my grandfather.

Biography
Herbert Edward Harold DENGATE was born on 18th January, 1898 in Captains Flat
His parents were John DENGATE and Selina SMITH who married in 1876
Herbert returned to Australia on 21st July, 1918 & was discharged
His brother Richard Allen DENGATE (SN3033) also served in WW1 and returned to Australia in 1919
Herbert married Heather Jean CAMERON in 1919
He died of 10th August, 1977 late of Penrith, NSW
