"THE LATE PRIVATE L. GARDENER.
Regret was expressed when it became known that Mrs. Ironrose, of Port-road, Bowden, had received word that her nephew (Private Leslie Gardener) was killed in action in France on August 9. The deceased soldier was 22 years of age. Private Gardener's twin brother was in the landing at Gallipoli, where he was twice wounded." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 14 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
