Son of William Forrester Volum and Elizabeth Ann Volumnee Logan of 'Roxby Park', Murgheboluc, Victoria. Brother of William Ronaldson MID Volum who returned to Australia on 27 July 1919 having served with the 5th Battalion.

Commenced return to Australia on 8 October 1918 aboard HT Port Sydney disembarking on 2 December 1918

Medals: Meritorious Service Medal, 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

15  January 1919 - awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for constantly good work and devotion to duty between the 25 Fbruary 1918 and 16 September 1918.
