2nd Lieutenant Allan Flores Stevenson

Allan Stevenson enlisted in the Australian Flying Corps on 26 March 1917.

A Medical Student from Melbourne Victoria, on enlistment Allan was posted to AFC School Laverton for Basic Flight Training.

Allan completed Recruit and Basic flight training by October 1917 and posted to England as a Special Draft to the AFC. with promotion to 2nd Lieutenant.

Allan departed Australia in November 1917 arrived in England in January 1918. via Alexandria Egypt, Taranto Italy and then the UK.

On arrival Allan was posted to Flight Training School and completed courses in Military Aeronautics, Map Reading, Flight low level (Buzzing) and Gunnery on Vickers MG and Lewis Gun respectively.

Allan was appointed Flying Officer Pilot on 5th of August 1918 and posted to 4 AFC Squadron France in October 1918.

Qualified Pilot on Sopwith CAMEL. On arrival in France posted back to England and conducted conversion course on Sopwith SNIPE. Qualified and returned to the Squadron in early November 1918.

Allan then conducted Air patrols in France until the Armistice and then was posted with the Squadron to Cologne Germany for Occupation duties until 11 March 1919.

Flying Officer Allan Stevenson was awarded the British War Medal 1914-18 and Victory Medal.

Promoted to Lieutenant in March 1919 , Allan returned to Australia in June of that year.

LT Allan Stevenson separated from the AIF on return to Australia and was placed on the Reserve Officer list in September 1919.

LT Allan Stevenson later married 2nd Lieutenant Maud Clow Hamilton (AANS) later residing in Melbourne Victoria.
