The son of Charles and Harriet Purser. Both parents were deceased, Dad in 1904 and Mum in 1908. Charles Glenroy Purser was stated to be a native of Clarendon, South Australia. He was the second son in the family to lose their life, his brother 2873 Pte. Arthur Bedford Purser 49th Battalion AIF was killed in action at Mouquet Farm on 4 September 1916, aged 24. The two brothers were working in Mitchell, Queensland, when they enlisted.
