Biography

Lance Corporal Leo Joseph Cleary was the son of Edward John Cleary and Jemima Cleary. He was only 18 when he signed up on the 2nd July 1915. He embarked with the 10th quota of reinforcemnts for the 22nd Battalion which fought in France and Belgium on the Western Front. He was killed in action on 3 May 2017 at Bullecourt. An eye witness account said that Leo was shot through the heart and so was killed instantly.
