Son of Patrick O'Reilly and Ella O'Reilly of Aldgate, SA.

Brother of Patrick O'Reilly who returned to Australia on 15 July 1919 having served with the 5th Pioneer Battalion.

Commenced return to Australia on 9 February 1919 aboard HT Ascania disembarking on 21 March 1919

On 3 September 1919 Thomas married Mary Helena Brogan in St Marys Church, Port Adelaide, SA
