"THE LATE PTE. A. R. WHITE.
Pte. A. R. White, who was killed in action in France on August 16, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. White, of Light terrace, Thebarton. He was born at Thebarton, and educated at the local public school. He was a member of the local band of the Salvation Army, a good footballer, a hard worker, and well liked by his associates. He left Adelaide on December 2, 1915, with the 12th (to the 10th) Reinforcements band. The anniversary of his eighteenth birthday was celebrated in Egypt. His elder brother, who has since been reported wounded, after haying served in the Gallipoli campaign, induced him to transfer to the 50th Battalion. Another brother, Lce.-Cpl. White, was killed at Suvla Bay on September 16, 1915." - from the Adelaide Register 26 Sep 1916 (nla.gov.au)
