The 51st name inscribed is Lance Corporal George Leslie Scott.

On the 13th August 1972, Lance Corporal George Leslie Scott, Australian Employment Company (Reg No-1501), fitter (Messrs. J. and A. Brown's Workshops, Minmi), from Main Street, Minmi, New South Wales and 16 Ernest Street, Belmont North, N.S.W. (1968), died age 77 years 3 months, and his ashes have been interred at Newcastle Memorial Park, N.S.W., date unknown. Location of Ashes - Loggia 12/3 S/127.

Born at Wallsend, New South Wales on the 11th May 1895 to George, died? and Jane Scott died?, from Whitburn Estate and Sale Street, Greta, N.S.W., late of Minmi; husband of Neta Irene Scott nee Hancock, married 1931, West Maitland, N.S.W., died 15.11.1991, Belmont North, N.S.W., age 87.

George enlisted on the 13th December 1915 with the 35th Battalion, Machine Gun Section, age 20 years 7 months, at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A24 Benalla on the 1st May 1916.

Disembarked Plymouth, England 9.7.1916.

Proceeded O/Seas to France from Southampton, England 21.11.1916.

Appointed Lance Corporal 5.1.1917.

Admitted to hospital 7.3.1917 (shell shock), 11.5.1917 (dilated heart), 22.2.1918 (scabies).

Transferred to Australian Employment Company 18.8.1918.

Granted leave to England from 6.11.1918 to 20.11.1918.

Commenced return to Australia 7.2.1919.

George arrived home on the 24th March 1919, being discharged on the 31st May 1919.

Mr. Scott’s name has also been inscribed on the Minmi St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour.
Not officially commemorated.

I would like to see poppies placed at George’s plaque in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.
