1 July 1918 – Charged with disobeying an order by a superior officer. Fined 21 days full pay

Between 10-12 August 1918 Citation for Military Medal says;

During operations near Lihons this stretcher bearer with Pte Davies worked continuously for 36 hours. They were the only two left, the other stretcher bearers having been wounded, and carried on without assistance. Almost every casualty in the Company was evacuated through them and when all the wounded had been evacuated these two bearers removed all the killed
