In December 1920 he stood for Vice President of the Returned Sailors, Soldiers' Imperial league of Australia South Australian Branch. he had been a member of the League since returning to Australia in 1919. he served a term on the River Murray and was secretary of the Berri Sub Branch and while their three other sub branches were open to serve the land settlement returned servicemen. In 1920 he was a member of the Port Adelaide Sub Branch. He was not elected, he recieved 203 votes.
