3 Nov 1916: Embarked Private, 2960, 60th Infantry Battalion, HMAT Afric, Sydney
13 May 1917: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 2690, 60th Infantry Battalion, Admitted to Fort Pitt Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left knee. Medical records indicate they surgically removed the bullet that was embedded in the bone and removed the knee joint. The wound was reported healed in 6 weeks. This injury caused him to be "medically unfit" for military service and he returned to Australia.
13 Dec 1917: Discharged AIF WW1, Private, 2960, Was honourably discharged after having knee joint removed after gun shot wound caused his leg to shorten.
23 Jul 1918: Enlisted AIF WW1, Private, 2960, Allowed to re-enlist for Home Service Only.
3 Sep 1918: Discharged AIF WW1, Private, 2960, Was discharged at own request.

War service: enlisted Sydney, 25 September 1916; transferred to D Company Depot, 55th Bn, Goulburn, 28 September 1916; to 7th Reinforcement, 60th Bn, 30 October 1916.

Embarked from Sydney, 3 November 1916; disembarked Plymouth, 9 January 1917; marched in to 55th Training Bn, Hurdcott, 10 January 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France from Folkestone, 28 March 1917; taken on strength, 60th Bn from 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, 2 April 1917. Wounded in action (gun shot wound to left knee), 12 May 1917; transferred to England from Boulogne, 17 May; admitted to Fort Pitt Hospital, Chatham, 18 May 1917; to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 26 July 1917; to 2nd Convalescent Depot, Weymouth, 1 August 1917.

Commenced returned to Australia, 10 September 1917; discharged (medically unfit,) 13 December 1917.

Granted a pension of three pounds a fortnight from 14 December 1917.

Re-enlisted, 23 July 1918. Accepted for home service only (reason: shortening of left leg), 5 August 1918; discharged at own request, 3 September 1918.

AIF service: 1 year 76 days

Death attributed to war service.
