91 years ago today, on the Thursday morning of the 13th February 1930, Private Clive Ramsay Horwood, 27th Battalion (Reg No-333), fitter from Lane Street, Broken Hill, New South Wales and "Lornaville", 59 Greaves Street, Mayfield East, N.S.W., father of one (Lorna), was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 39. ANGLICAN 2-138. 25.


Born at Henley Beach, South Australia 1891 to Edward James and Caroline Horwood; husband of Mabel Essie Horwood nee Bennett (married 1926, Wickham, N.S.W., died?), Clive enlisted December 1914 at Oaklands, South Australia.

Admitted to hospital 27.10.1915 (enteric fever), 1.9.1916 (trench feet), 19.11.1916 (trench feet), 5.1.1918 (appendicitis), Clive returned home January 1919, being discharged medically unfit on the 14th April 1919.

Mr Horwood’s name has been inscribed on the Barrier District Roll of Honor, Broken Hill, N.S.W.

I have placed poppies and a 1914-1918 WAR label at Clive’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King and Country.
