World War 1 Service

18 May 1916: Embarked Private, 745, 41st Infantry Battalion, HMAT Demosthenes, Sydney
7 Jan 1917: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 745, 41st Infantry Battalion, Private Stitt became ill and was evacuated on 7 January 1917, admitted to the 9th Australian Field Ambulance with diarrhoea. He was sent to England on 21 April 1917 and admitted to the 2nd Southern General Hospital, Bristol, on 22 April with enteritis. On 22 May he was noted as dangerously ill and transferred to No.2 Command Depot, Weymouth. On 29 May he was admitted to No.1 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, with recurrent diarrhoea. No date of discharge from hospital is noted.
3 Jul 1917: Embarked AIF WW1, Private, 745, 41st Infantry Battalion, Embarked from England on the hospital transport H.T. Karoola on 3 July 1917. He disembarked on 23 August 1917 at Sydney for Brisbane, continuing convalescence on arrival.
29 Sep 1917: Discharged AIF WW1, Private, 745, 41st Infantry Battalion, Discharged medically unfit in Brisbane on 29 September 1917, the disability recorded as sprue.
