Victor Green, son of Mr. R. K. Green, of McHenry-street, Ripponlea, was, prior to his enlistment, a junior teacher at the Benalla School.
Born in 1897, he attended School No. 1673, Winton North, receiving his Merit Certificate in 1910. He then went to the Wangaratta High School, where he remained as a pupil in 1911, 1912, and 1913. Appointed junior teacher at Chiltern in 1914, he transferred, two years later, to Benalla.
He enlisted on the 17th of July, 1916, and embarked with the 21st Reinforcements to the 5th Battalion. After training in England, he went to France, joining his unit on the 7th of February, 1917. He was wounded on the 22nd of April, and died the same day in the 3rd Casualty Clearing Station.
