Son of William Joseph Quinn and Sarah Jane Quinn nee Chapman of Frederick Street, Petersham, NSW, formerly of Singleton, NSW.

Brother of William James Patrick Quinn who was killed in action on 5 June 1917 while serving with the 5th Machine Gun Company and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial

Commenced return to Australia on 2 June 1919 aboard HT Beltana disembarking on 19 July 1919
