Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Henry Brown was wounded in action on four occasions, once at Gallipoli, a gunshot wound to the right arm, and evacuated to Mudros. He was again wounded at Pozieres during 1916, this time shot in the left arm and evacuated to England. He was again wounded in the left forearm during March 1918 which kept him out of action for a month. He was reported slightly wounded by shrapnel to the head during June 1918. Six weeks later he was killed in action.

His older brother, 3633 Private Edward John Brown 26th Battalion AIF, had been killed in action 6 March 1917. Both gave their next of kin as a married sister, Mrs. Mary McGee of Westbury Tasmania. She reported to the AIF that she was the only surviving member of the family, their mother having died and their father had deserted the family some 12 years previous.
