Major Tyndall served with the Australian Remount Unit 1, Squadron 2; he enlisted as a Lieutenant on 5 November 1915. He was married and lived at 'Avonlea', Queen's Road, City. He embarked at age 40 from Melbourne, Victoria, on board TRANSPORT A67 Orsova on 12 November 1915-AWM Embarkation Roll number-28/2/1.
He returned to Australia 26 July 1919.
He is remembered on the Roll of Honour in the church at New Ross.
