Arthur arrived in Adelaide from Antwerp on 13 September 1912 aboard the Scharnhorst. At the time he gave his occupation as Park Keeper.
At the time of enlistment his address was 'Murtho Park', Murtho, SA. At the time of his death his residential address was given as Loxton, SA.
Next of kin given as his father George Vallis of Derisies, Wiltshire, England. Later changed to his wife Dora Sylvia Vallis nee Mundy of England of 'Erroll'. Kew Road, Richmond, Sussex, England. Arthur and Dora married on 23 October 1916 in Willesden, London, England. Vicar of St. Martins Church, Willesden officiated. Dora died on 28 November 1918 in Amesbury, Wiltshire, England.
