Arrived in Australia from Edinburgh, Scotland at the age of 14 years.
Son of Thomas Ormiston and Christina Ormiston of 'Greenslopes', Logan Road, Brisbane, QLD formerly of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Brother of John Wightman Ormiston who was killed in action on 17 July 1918 while serving with the 25th Battalion and is buried in the Adelaide Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux Plot 1, Row D, Grave 15; David Wightman Ormiston who died of wounds received while serving with the 49th Battalion and is buried in the St. Pierre Cemetery, Amiens, Plot XV, Row B, Grave 3
