ALFRED ERNEST KENT who was killed in action on 5th May 1916 was the elder son of Mr. A. B. Kent. He was born in 1875 and entered the School in 1888 and left in 1892. He won the champion cup for athletics in 1892, and was in the football teams of 1891 and 1892.

Prior to enlistment he had been in business in Tasmania, and had been an orchardist at Narre Warren, Victoria. On enlistment he joined the
6th Battalion, in which he was appointed a Lance-Corporal.

He was killed by a shell during a raid made by the Germans, and was buried in a cemetery near Wye Farm in France.
