Murray James Lawrence was born into a Baptist household in September of 1884 in Mannum South Australia, to his mother, Mary Lawrence, and his father. He was 5’11, with brown hair and blue eyes, and worked as a carpenter before the war.
On the 6th of March 1916, when he was 31, he was enlisted in Adelaide, South Australia. During this time, he was transferred between different units and was hospitalized on the 2nd of September 1916, until the 25th of September 1916. Murray James Lawrence was returned to Mannum on the 12th of June 1919.
Murray James Lawrence died at the age of 67 and was laid to rest at the Mannum District Cemetery in his hometown.
