Robert Henry Allen Crosby was born near Laidley, Queensland in 1891.
He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 22nd January, 1916 as a 24 year old Farmer from Townson, Qld.
Private Crosby, Service number 1630, arrived in England on 23rd July, 1916 for further training before being sent to the Front.
He was appointed as Driver on 30th October, 1916 & joined 12th Machine Gun Company in France on 26th November, 1916.
While on leave in UK Driver Crosby was sent to Hospital with short & painful breathing.
Driver Robert Henry Allen Crosby died at 6.40 pm on 15th October, 1918 at The Military Hospital, York from Influenza & Pneumonia.
His body was claimed by his Aunt & he was buried in St. Mary’s Churchyard, Alne, North Yorkshire, England.
